Italian Vogue is published monthly in Italy by Edizioni Conde Nast S.p.A. There are at least four suppliment issues a year (2 runway and 2 couture, occasionaly there are 2 special issues). Couture ads by Valentino, YSL, Chanel, Ken Scott, Lancetti, Versace, and other Italian houses make a regular appearance in the March and September issues. The January and July suppliments feature pages and pages of runway images for each season of collections. Italian Vogue often features up and coming models on their covers and has a mostly healthy attitude about aging, featuring models and celebrities of all ages. Italian Vogue has a consistency in mood gradation that I've not seen matched anywhere else...going from melancholy periods to joyously youthful features to overtly sexy. Steven Meisel has photographed their covers in the 90's almost exclusively: The time period is also their most creative cover period. Vogue Italia began publishing in 1966. |
